HEALTH AND SANITATION PROTOCOL
Utah Motorsports Campus would like to work closely with Tooele County and the State of Utah on our re-opening phases. In order to secure the safety of our guests, employees and community we will continue to closely monitor government policy changes, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, government mandates and public health advancements. We will continue to make adjustments to the protocols and procedures we have established within our UMC program, described in great detail below, as necessary or appropriate. This program has been developed with requirements stemming from Utah Leads Together, Tooele County Recovery Task Force and Federal guidelines.
HEALTH & SANITATION GUIDELINES
Statement from Dixon Hunt, General Manager, Utah Motorsports Campus
Utah Motorsports Campus cares deeply about our family of employees and our community. Closing our facility before the state required the closure, and at a time when we would normally open for our most successful year of scheduled events, came with a heavy heart. However, we knew it was in the best interest of our community and our beautiful state.
We realized that asking all our employees and tenants to stay home during this time of COVID-19 was going to be challenging for them. Therefore, to support our team, we chose to continue to pay all our full-time employees throughout this closure. It is costing us approximately $7,500 per day.
We commend our state and county officials for making the difficult decisions they have had to make and believe their decisions have saved lives and potential exposure. Currently, Utah is well-positioned relative to many other states.
With our parent company having had to deal with this pandemic before the virus reached America, we have received much guidance and support from them, including personal protective equipment (PPE), large quantities of which we donated to our county and state. We plan to continue this support as our parent company is able to produce and ship the items to us. We now face the challenge of not only “flattening” the curve, but also finding a vaccine to defeat COVID-19.
Our global economy is in a free-fall. Businesses within our state are suffering. Utahns are challenged with isolation which has increased depression, anxiety, substance abuse, domestic violence and child abuse within the home, and at Utah Motorsports Campus we feel we can help with these issues as well.
This plan presents what we will do to keep guests, employees and our community safe. Each operating department has its own customized set of procedures, even more detailed than what you will read here. It relies on the best available science on sanitization methods in conjunction with experts from the CDC and our very own Utah state and county officials. We will continue to refine and update our plan as new and updated information comes in from the experts. We communicate daily with various leaders in our medical community representing hospitals around Utah for daily updates and new requirements in order to stay on top and ahead of processes needed to keep guests, employees and our community safe.
Utah Motorsports Campus, being an outdoor facility, would like to start a re-opening process that is within the Utah Leads Together recommendations and our own Tooele County Recovery Task Force suggestions. Please find our planned process, and steps we will provide to secure safety for all at our facility, in the following pages.
- UMC is submitting this sanitation plan and procedure for all departments at our facility to Tooele County Health Department for approval.
- Reopening parts of UMC early May. This will begin with reduced occupancy, physical distancing measures in place of 10 feet, temperature checks at our entrance and no large gatherings. Enclosed buildings will be kept closed to guests and only outdoor-entrance bathrooms will be available for use with an employee available to clean and sanitize throughout the day.
- Masks, gloves and hand sanitizer are recommended for all guests daily.
- Payment processes for activities at UMC will be processed online to reduce person-to-person contact.
- All common touchpoints will be sanitized using CDC-approved methods such as our new SaniBoXX Ride Safe Decontamination Units. SaniBoXX was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to help the medical community due to the shortage of medical-grade face masks. The portable SaniBoXX FFR Decontamination Unit offers dosing requirements to inactivate the SARS CoV virus which has been accepted and approved by the CDC, stationed in multiple hospitals and medical facilities. These are in route to UMC.

UMC is flexible to recommendations from the Tooele County Health Department. However, with UMC being an outdoor facility, similar to golf courses and the Jordan River OHV, we have 512 acres of property for social distancing, and we have CDC-approved means and methods of sanitization to keep our guests, employees and community safe.
Points of entry will be limited to allow our security team to conduct non-invasive thermal temperature checks. Employees or guests confirmed to have a temperature over 100.0°F after the second check will not be allowed entry to the facility and we will encourage them to contact their family physician.
Guests will be advised to practice physical distancing by standing at least ten feet away from other groups of people, not standing in lines, using elevators or moving around the property. Concession areas will allow guests to order via their personal phones online and delivery will be made similar to the current methods of a curbside pickup and drive-thru. Guests and employees will be reminded not to touch their faces and to practice physical distancing by standing at least ten feet away from guests and other employees whenever possible.
Hand sanitizer dispensers, touchless whenever possible, will be placed at key guest and employee entrances and contact areas such as doorways, garages, room rentals, bathrooms, concessions, training spaces and elevator landings.
There will be health and hygiene reminders throughout the facility including the proper sanitation processes.
Our employees have been given clear instructions on how to respond swiftly and report all presumed cases of COVID-19 at the facility. Employees are instructed to stay home if they do not feel well and are instructed to contact a manager if they notice a co-worker or guest with a cough, shortness of breath or other known symptoms of COVID-19. Employees and guests who are exhibiting any of the symptoms of COVID-19 while at UMC are instructed to immediately notify their manager.
If we are alerted to a presumptive case of COVID-19 at UMC, we will contact Tooele Health Department to follow the appropriate actions recommended. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/infection-control-recommendations.html
Correct hygiene and frequent hand-washing with soap is vital to help combat the spread of virus. All UMC employees have been instructed to wash their hands, or use sanitizer when a sink is not available, every 60 minutes (for 20 seconds) and after any of the following activities: using the restroom, sneezing, touching the face, blowing the nose, cleaning, sweeping, mopping, smoking, eating, drinking, entering and leaving through doorways, going on break and before or after starting a shift.
UMC will add a new training regimen to our regular training days on COVID-19 safety and sanitation protocols, with more comprehensive training for our teams with frequent guest contact.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Appropriate PPE will be worn by all employees based on their role and responsibilities and in adherence to state or local regulations and guidance. Training on how to properly use and dispose of all PPE will be conducted with employees.
Employee meetings and training will be conducted virtually or in areas that allow for appropriate physical distancing between employees. Timekeeping/clocking-in and -out at UMC has already been established online, and employees access this through an app on their personal phone. Our management team will ensure constant communication and proper PPE and sanitation procedures are followed and updated per the latest expert guidance.
UMC is gated with security who will greet each guest to the facility. Guests will be temperature screened and asked to wash their hands regularly, use hand sanitizer throughout the facility while on site and recommended to wear a mask. Appropriate signage will also be prominently displayed outlining proper PPE and physical distancing practices.
Cleaning Products and Protocols
UMC uses cleaning products and protocols which meet EPA guidelines and are approved for use and effective against viruses, bacteria and other airborne and bloodborne pathogens. We are working with our vendors, distribution partners and suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of these cleaning supplies and the necessary PPE are available.
Public Spaces and Communal Areas
The frequency of cleaning and sanitizing has been increased in all spaces with an emphasis on frequent contact surfaces including, but not limited to, counters, walls, activity equipment, elevators and elevator buttons, door handles, public bathrooms, ATMs, equipment, dining surfaces and seating areas.
Industry-leading cleaning and sanitizing protocols are used to clean rental spaces, with particular attention paid to high-touch items including television remote controls, toilet seats and handles, door handles, water faucet handles, light switches, temperature control panels and flooring.
All linens and laundry will be changed after every activity and continue to be washed at a high temperature and in accordance with CDC guidelines. Shared tools and equipment will be sanitized before, during and after each shift or anytime the equipment is transferred to a new employee. This includes radios and other communication devices, payment terminals, kitchen implements, engineering tools, cleaning equipment, keys, and all other direct contact items used throughout UMC.
Air Filter and HVAC Cleaning
The frequency of air filter replacement and HVAC system cleaning has been increased and fresh air exchange will be maximized.
All concession areas will reduce seating capacities to allow for a minimum of ten feet between each seated party.
Large rooms will be set up and arranged to allow for physical distancing between guests in all meetings and events based on CDC4 and state recommendations. Self-service-style food areas will be replaced by alternative service styles managed by UMC to ensure safety.
In coordination with our retail partners, tenants, employees and guests - occupancy limits will be enforced to allow for appropriate distancing at our new retail store.
UMC GUEST/EMPLOYEE SANITIZATION POLICIES
Additional department and protocols are under review and will be added/modified as developed.
- Guests will be temperature-checked at the front security gate and procedures will follow as stated above in “Thermal Checkpoints.”
- Guests who are participating in public activities such as karting will not be allowed to do so in groups of over 20 people.
- No double occupancy (two-seat go-kart) will be available during restrictive times.
- A limit of one spectator with any minor guest and appropriate social distancing will be enforced.
- Most enclosed buildings will remain closed, focusing on keeping all operations and interactions outdoors while practicing social distancing. A few enclosed buildings that allow restrooms will be open and UMC will staff those areas with daily cleaning and sanitation to ensure safety measures are followed.
- Head socks will be provided to all guests for any activity requiring head protection and all helmets will go through an additional safety measure using our SaniBoXX Decontamination Units.
- Disposable gloves, masks and hand sanitizer will be recommended.
- A manager will ensure all shared public activity equipment is sanitized using the SaniBoXX Decontamination Units prior to next use and public spaces will be sanitized with CDC-approved disinfectant sprays after each use.
- UMC will install guest arrival intervals online as well as with walk-ins to remain within state, local and CDC regulations of the number of people allowed in one space.
- Social media posts will continue to promote social distancing and sanitation requirements.
- Payment will be handled online or with touchless terminals on property.
- We will offer private racers a free opportunity to decontaminate their gear in our new SaniBoXX Decontamination Units prior to dressing in their personal safety gear.
- Guest/Tenant packages delivered to UMC will be placed outside of Guest Services or delivered directly to the receiver. This will be done by placing the package 10 feet away from the receiver and asking them to retrieve the package once the UMC employee has left. UMC employees will be required to deliver with disposable gloves, wash hands after their return and use hand sanitizer. Package recipients will also be asked to wash their hands and use sanitizer once they have opened package(s).
- Shared motorized vehicles, such as golf carts, scooters and ATVs, will not be available to guests. Employees will sanitize after each use and only one employee will be in use of a shared motorized vehicle at one time.
- Employees to sanitize the following areas at least once per hour: guest garages, handrails, tables, counters, entry doors, benches, trash bins, restrooms, faucets, floors, desks, phones, light switches and computer terminals.
- Signage will be prominently posted at each entry door reminding guests of maximum occupancies and distancing guidelines.
- Concession equipment to be sanitized at least once per hour.
- Service stations, service carts, beverage stations, counters, handrails and trays to be sanitized at least once per hour and logged by a manager.
- POS terminals to be assigned to a single user and sanitized between each user and before and after each shift. This will only be the case when a guest is unable to register and pay online.
- Dining tables, bar tops, stools and chairs to be sanitized after each use.
- Condiments to be served in single-use containers (either disposable or washed after each use).
- Check presenters, votives, pens and all other reusable guest-contact items to be either sanitized after each use or single use.
- Storage containers to be sanitized before and after each use.
- Food preparation stations to be sanitized at least once per hour
- Kitchens to be deep-cleaned and sanitized at least once per day.
- Food and beverage items being prepared to be transferred to other employees using contactless methods (leaving on expediting tables, etc.).
- Managers to manage physical distancing at entries, waiting areas and dining spaces.
- Lounge seating to be sanitized at least once per hour.
- Tables and chairs to be utilized with appropriate physical distancing between each party (six feet or as otherwise advised by local authorities).
- All food and beverages to be delivered as one-time use and then disposed of in trash bins.
- Seating capacities and floor plans to be reviewed on an event-by-event basis to ensure appropriate physical distancing that follows Tooele County Fire Department, TCHD and CDC guidelines.
- Site inspections and meetings will be done virtually and/or appropriately physically distanced.
- Signage will be posted outside of meeting and events reminding guests of appropriate physical distancing guidelines.
SCREENING & CASE REPORTING PROTOCOLS
Thermal temperature checks will be taken at the front gate and every public entry point to UMC. Any person with a temperature above 100.0°F will be discreetly offered a secondary screening.
Any guest displaying an elevated temperature will not be allowed inside the gate of UMC and asked to see their family physician.
Guests with Elevated Temperature
Guests with confirmed temperature readings equal to or greater than 100.0°F will be denied entry and directed to contact their family physician.
APPRECIATION AND TEAMWORK TOWARDS RE-OPEN
UMC has and will continue to be a positive leading business in Tooele County. As one of the businesses to close before the “order” came out by the Governor, we are and will remain focused to ensure safety and security at our facility. Providing fast and safe entertainment to our state and our community has been our goal for years. We look forward to slowly re-opening our facility to the public with limited occupancy and limited activity in early May with the support of Tooele County Commissioners. With 512 acres, we are similar to the Jordan River OHV and golf courses around the state providing outdoor healthy social distancing activities.
Below we have taken the Utah Leads Together Program and implemented it to UMC. In communication with experts on the uniqueness of our facility and the fact it is outdoors, we believe we will be able to re-open with the following in mind. We also feel the continued support and guidance we have from our parent companies will offer forward-thinking safety measures at UMC for all guests, employees and our community.
